More Ways to Help
"Conditions such as those that Mali has endured in Manila Zoo for 35 years, deprived of contact with [her] own kind, are guaranteed to ensure a wretched and unhappy life, and will lead to an early death."—David Hancocks, a former zoo director who has been involved in managing and planning zoos for more than four decades
If you've already e-mailed Manila officials asking them to immediately ensure Mali's transfer, please look at the following list of suggestions on how to help Mali:
-
Take a minute to watch a minute of Mali's life. Share PETA Asia's powerful public service announcement on YouTube.
-
"Like" PETA's "Free Mali" Facebook page and follow us on Twitter. Repost the photos to your Facebook page so that your friends and family can see the conditions that Mali endures every single day. If you want to go one step further, create your own photo or video message telling your friends why Mali deserves freedom.
-
Hold a leafleting event outside your local Philippine embassy. E-mail us for more information.
-
Send a letter to the editors of newspapers in the Philippines educating others about Mali's plight. If published, you could reach countless readers. Check out PETA U.S.' letter-writing guide for tips on how to write an effective letter. Write to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, The Philippine Star, the Manila Bulletin, and the Manila Standard Today. Don't forget to include your address and phone number for verification purposes.
-
If you're currently living outside the Philippines, write to the ambassador of the Philippines to your own country and ask that he or she do everything possible to intervene in behalf of Mali. You can find contact details here.

If you're a teacher, please get your students involved in this campaign. E-mail us for more information.
